Victoria Hume is a composer, arts manager and researcher specialising in the meeting points between the arts, culture, medicine and health. She is director of the Culture, Health and Wellbeing Alliance (England) and a research associate in the medical humanities at the Wits Institute for Social & Economic Research (WiSER). She was an arts manager in the UK National Health Service for 15 years – and has established a variety of arts-and-health programmes in South Africa, including a course module for the Wits School of Arts (Community Music) training musicians to work in hospitals. In 2017 she received a distinction for a Masters in Music and Health Communication focused on hospital-induced delirium. Her most recent EP, Closing (released on Lost Map records), featured on Lauren Laverne’s best of 2016 playlist (BBC Radio6 Music).
